LU(ni-in)verso

2008 was a conceptual turning point for LU. From the transparency of the early versions lit with oil to the colours of the later LU models that challenge the imagination with rainbow-coloured translucencies and metallic reflections, Fornasier added the finishing touch to the product by designing a fibre optic lighting system. By the end of the year, LU was to return to the Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti building, to the IVSLA Veneto arts and sciences institute, with an individual exhibition, LU(ni-in)verso. "LU(ni-in)verso throws off its role as an interior design piece and becomes conceptual Venetian glass art" says the Master Glassmaker. The raw material used for the new creation is the Idea. After a spell on display in the grounds of Palazzo Franchetti on the Grand Canal, LU(ni-in)verso moved to Murano to connect with one of Venice's rarest and most demanding architectural spaces, the Basilica of Santa Maria e Donato.
